Kayitz 19 – Leviim Second Session First Blog Post

Author - Camp Yavneh

Shalom (hello) and bruchim habaim (welcome) to second month in Leviim!

Come opening day, we were thrilled to enjoy not only comfortable temperature, but a chill atmosphere for change-over day. After a morning of prep, we welcomed in our second-monthers and had a smooth unpacking. Once all were unpacked, the first monthers returned from their day trip to Take Flight ropes course, reunited with old friends and met new bunkmates. We spent the afternoon getting to know each other and the counselors and began to break the ice. Before dinner, all of the chanichim (campers) signed up for their kitah (class) options which consist of Torah Yoga, Harry Potter and the Shabbos Hollows, LOL in Jewish! Our Humor from Bible to Broadway, and many other fun and educational electives. Dinner consisted of a common favorite dish…schnitzel!! Every day, after dinner the madrichim (counselors) and roshes (unit heads) plan an evening activity, so for our first night as an ayda (unit) we planned a night of ditter games. Ditter games are short games that are active, energetic, and fun that help break the ice and help the chanichim get to know each other. One of the stations was called “human machines” where each group would be given a household machine, such as a toaster or a washing machine, and have to physically act it out. At the end of the peulah (activity) each group came up to the front and presented their machine to the ayda and they had to guess what it was. As the peulah came to a close, we came together to sing Rad Hayom (a song sung at the end of every night) and headed back to the bunks for a much needed nights rest. Opening day was extremely successful and we can’t wait for what is yet to come. Looking a head for this week, tomorrow is achla yom (trip day) where camp as a whole will be headed to Water Country! We will keep you updated on a weekly basis, but you should all know that all your children are in great hand and are in for the summer of their lives.

B’ahava (with love),
