Shalom, Arayot Parents!
We — Ethan and Amanda — are so excited to be the roshei aydot (unit heads) for Arayot second month. We have a lot of exciting things to look forward to, including a trip to Water Country today, an overnight trip to Loon Mountain next week, Rikudiyah (a camp-wide dance performance), KTV (a camp-wide lip-synching competition), and more!
Yesterday, despite the rain, all of our 27 campers arrived on time and unpacked. We got to hang out in the bunk and get adjusted to camp life. We had a delicious schnitzel and mashed potato dinner with cookies for dessert. Afterwards, we had a fun opening night peulat erev (night activity). We divided into groups and played games like ninja, birdie goes peep, and Wa! The kids got to get acquainted with their friends and the counselors while also having a fun time. Then we went back to the bunks and went to bed.
This morning we woke up to more rain, but it is supposed to let up this morning. The kids will get their kitah (class) assignments this morning and will also get to pick which chug (elective) they want for the next two weeks. This afternoon we will be singing, playing gaga, and playing games indoors. Tonight we have a fun activity planned where the kids will be recording videos about camp to be played at Yavneh’s 75th anniversary celebration next Sunday.
We are so excited for this month with the kids, and can’t wait for a lot of fun activities and surprises, starting with Water Country tomorrow!
B’ahavah (with love),
Amanda and Ethan
