This week for Gurim has been filled to the brim with excitement as we reach the pinnacle of the session, Zimriah!! In general it has been a very “sing song” last couple of days.
We started off Tuesday with a spectacular Yavneh Cabaret, which was the camp wide play for this summer. Many חניכים from עדת Gurim could be counted among the cast on stage as the audience went into rapture at the end of performance. The stunning musical talents on stage led to a common consensus that Yavneh Cabaret was the best play that camp has ever seen. It should also be noted that it was עדת Gurim’s very own Jonathan Gomolka who is a star מדריך and Studies BFA Musical Theatre at Pace University, who directed the show.
After the performance we switched gears immediately and started the preparations for מחנה ,זמריה Yavneh’s premier שיר (singing) contest. When we say that Gurim shifted gears that might have been understating it. It was as if we went from zero to a hundred in a second. Each song has come together beautifully, all the voices of our עדה melding together to create real art. The unity of our עדה has never been higher which is visible through the synchronization of our hand motions.
Pride doesn’t even begin to describe our feelings as מדריכים watching how far the חניכים have come. Now all we need to do is reiterate to Gurim that whatever happens tonight during זמריה , they need to hold their heads high with a smile on their face because each one of them is a true אַלוּף (Champion)!!
We are going to leave you with is positive quote that is going to be announced tonight.
