This year Chanukah leads right into 2020. The calendar change is symbolic for the staff in the year-round office, another season is going to be upon us before we know it. There is so much that goes into planning a successful summer and it takes a kehilla (community) of people to make camp an incredible place, year after year.
Close to 25% of our campers need some type of financial aid in order to attend Yavneh. It is part of our mission to have families from diverse economic backgrounds as part of our camp community. Indeed, we rely on the generosity of the greater donor community to help sustain the rich programming that we offer our campers and staff. Chanukah is a time of generosity and light and we would love to have campers give back to the place that they love with a donation to the Annual Campaign. This year on the fifth night of Chanukah – December 26th – we are asking parents to encourage their campers to give to Yavneh. Their support will give other campers the opportunity to experience Yavneh ruach during the summer.
As you think about the end of 2019 and where you want to give your philanthropic dollars, we hope that you will think of Yavneh. Recently, an alum, who was able to come to Yavneh due to the generosity of donors like you, wrote to us about the impact that Yavneh had on their entire family. “Camp Yavneh will always remain an important part of our lives no matter how far physically around the world we live. My family attended camp on scholarships and we would not have been able to afford tuition without them. Camp Yavneh, without a doubt, altered the path of my life for the better and it is an honor to give back to camp scholarship funds.”
Please join me in supporting Yavneh so that we can continue to inspire the next generation of young Jews. Make your tax deductible, year-end donation by December 31, 2019 online or by sending a check to Camp Yavneh, 160 Herrick Road, Newton Centre, MA 02459.
