Our third Shabbat together was just as magical as the first two. We can’t believe we only have one left in the first session. We were finally able to daven Kabbalat Shabbat outside for the first time this session. It looked like it was going to rain, but luckily it didn’t. The challah and matzah ball soup were on point this week as always. And the ruach was amazing!
Shabbat day we saw the sun for the first time in a few days, which was very exciting! The chanichim were thrilled to spend the afternoon outside. They did all kinds of things throughout the day. Some spent the day on the sports field, while others had a swim in the Agam (lake) and chose to stay back in the tzrif (bunk) to read or take a nice Shabbat nap. Everyone had a wonderful afternoon! Singing at dinner and Havdallah were filled with joy as we said goodbye to Shabbat all together.
Sunday was Yom Yisrael. This gave chanichim an opportunity to experience Israeli culture at camp. There were all kinds of fun activities including pita making, army training and even an authentic Israeli shuk. Breakfast included special bread with chocolate spread. Lunch included authentic Israeli food such as falafel and shawarma. The day ended with a special ceremony about Israel.
We are ready to put our head down and prep for Zimriyah over the next few days. We are very excited!
