After saying goodbye to their parents, the “Gurs,” as we affectionately call them, got to know each other by playing a few fun games outside. The clear favorite was Woosh (ask them to teach you when they get home, it’s super fun). Soon it was time to go down to the chadar ochel (dining hall) to meet up with the rest of the machaneh (camp) for lunch.

After lunch we went back to our bunks for sha’at menucha (rest hour). We also had our first bunk meetings where we talked about bunk rules. The rest of the afternoon was spent taking a tour of camp, playing gaga while singing songs, and having fun playing parachute games that Graham, our Rosh Sport (Head of Sports), taught us.IMG_6353

The highlight of our time so far has definitely been our evening activity from last night when we did a round robin of fun games (including freeze tag!!) that had us all busy until it was time to go to sleep.Photo Jun 24, 8 15 52 PM

At bedtime, we all sang songs and the madrichim (counselors) read stories to the chanichim (campers) during zman panas (flashlight time). By the time it was time to turn out the lights and go to sleep, we were all exhausted and ready for all of the fun things that tomorrow would bring.
