Shalom from Gurim!

Author - Camp Yavneh

So much has been going on in the world of Aydat Gurim!

This past Thursday, the chanichim (campers) were placed in different levels for instructional swim, and began their classes that happen every morning.  The next afternoon, they had their first schiyah chofsheet (free swim).  B7 got to go on the water shark, a large mat that floats on the agam (lake), and G3 went on the water trampoline, replete with a swing that launches the chanichim into the water.  What fun!!

Certainly the most exciting part of camp over the last few days was Shabbat.  On Friday evening, Gurim enjoyed relish (ruach lifnei Shabbat, Spirit before Shabbat) where the whole camp gathers in Bet Ha’am (the gym) to sing songs with the Yavneh band in order to welcome the Shabbat Queen to our lovely grounds. Photo Jun 26, 6 12 54 PM A spiritual Kabbalat Shabbat followed, and as the last rays of sunlight drenched the trees and fields, Gurim sat in the chadar ochel (dining hall), filling their bellies with a fabulous Shabbat meal of chicken soup and matzah balls, mini hotdogs, marinated chicken, rice, and veggies.

The next morning the chanichim slept in until 8:30, and after an uplifting shacharit and musaf , played with new and old friends during an afternoon of free time culminating in an energetic havdallah as the sun set once again over Machaneh Yavneh.

We now turn towards a week filled with more ruach than the last, where there will be a talent show and a carnival among many other surprises.IMG_6470
