Naaleh ’15 What a great first week!

Author - Camp Yavneh

Shabbat Shalom Machaneh Yavneh

After landing from a crazy plane ride, we got our first taste of Eretz Yisrael in the form of delicious falafel. We checked into a  hostel, and on our first night visited Har HaTzofim and enjoyed a beautiful view of Jerusalem. Ari’s shoe came untied! The following morning we davened at Hass Promenade with yet another view of the city and Josh R. bothered us with his overwhelming attempt to learn Hebrew! We visited Ir David, the City of David, and met up with weary travelers Adiel D. and Noga H. before having a blast trekking through Hezekiah’s tunnels! Zoe Ruth G. loved it! That night many of us had powerful experiences at our first visit to the Kotel, especially Zoe Ruth G. The following morning we got breakfast in the Rova and danced with multiple passing through Bnai Mitzvah in the streets of Jerusalem. We ate lunch and bartered in the machaneh yehuda shuk, and Mitchell B. got a vest! At night we met with Lone Soldiers in the Israeli Army and heard a passionate speech from Aryeh Ben David. This morning we hiked up Ein Gedi and met with Ethiopian immigrant families in Ma’aleh Adumim. We are having a great time here in the holy land and hope that all is going well in the first week of camp!
