Dearest family and friends of Leviim 2017,
You should all be impressed and proud of each and every one of your children.
Yesterday, our chanichim (campers) embarked on the Welch-Dickey Loop Trail hike, one of the toughest hikes that Yavneh does with campers. Welch-Dickey is a 4.5 mile hike in the southern White Mountains. It has some very steep stretches of exposed rock, but the views are well worth it.
Our adventure started early. We had to wake up at 6:00 AM in order to have enough time to do the whole hike and go to the cascades afterward (more on that later!). By around 9:30 we were on the way up Mount Welch, and by about 12:30 we had reached the top of Mount Dickey. The views were incredible and all of our chanichim were in great spirits despite the tough hike. We took pictures, competed over who had finished the most bottles of water, played a game with clothespins, and sang songs all the way down the mountain. By around 2:15 we were all back by the buses. Our chanichim did an unbelievable job on a truly challenging hike and we could not be more proud of them!!
Next we drove to the Cascades, a bunch of natural waterslides located in Woodstock, NH. We all got to cool off and enjoy the fun water slides. Once everyone was out of the water,
we got some soft serve ice cream (I got chocolate. Some people got twist but I think chocolate is better. Just putting it out there) before heading back to camp. Almost everyone fell asleep on the bus after a very long day.
But it wasn’t over yet!
Once we got back to camp, we found out that we were to leave camp again for a special surprise trip! We ate our traditional Achla Yom barbecue dinner, and then headed over to the outdoor pool at the University of New Hampshire. Their pool is beautiful and fun. It’s amazing how much fun our chanichim have when they are brought to a new body of water. Numerous campers came and told me it was the most fun night they had had all summer.
We got back pretty late, and all quickly showered before going to sleep. It was an exhausting day, but certainly a fun one. Our chanichim were enthusiastic and energetic throughout, and I couldn’t be more proud of them.
