The energy around camp is palatable. Zimriyah was another huge success and at Yavneh it’s more than just a song competition – it is the signature event that brings an ayda of individuals into an incredible cohesive unit. It is amazing that even after so many years or even decades have passed, our alumni return to Yavneh and can still remember their songs and hand motions from when they were in elementary school. We see it in the Chadar Ochel when our madrichim are still excited to sing their shir ayda from Kfirim! Another opportunity that Zimriyah presents is leadership skills. Our Kerem, the CIT’s, plan each song all on their own. They choose their soloists, choreograph the hand motions, and decide on each song. In the younger aydot, the chanichim are empowered to make suggestions and contribute to the process. We love seeing the soloist and the song leaders lead their ayda in each round of song. It is an experience that stays with each chanich for a lifetime.
