Today we are introducing two more new members of the Yavneh family – Rena and Simmie. They are joining us this year to help run our Gan and Parparim (daycare for staff children). Rena is joining us from Atlanta, GA where she is a toddler teacher and Simmie lives in Sharon, MA and teaches in a transitional kindergarten. We asked both of them three questions to get to know them better and here is what they shared:
Favorite camp/outdoor activity?
“Archery.” – Rena
“My favorite camp and outdoor activities are hiking, kayaking and biking. I also love attending outdoor concerts in the summer.” – Simmie
What are you looking forward to most this summer?
“Being outdoors.” – Rena
“I have a passion for education in nature, and I am most looking forward to spending time outdoors, as well as meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends. I am also looking forward to not doing my children’s laundry or cooking their meals for an entire month!” – Simmie
What is the most important or unique item you are packing in your luggage for camp?
“Mosquito repellent!” – Rena
“I am packing a mini dry erase board. I am a paper and pencil type of gal and although I do have a smartphone I still prefer the old fashioned way of keeping track of my plans, but I much prefer a dry erase board to actual paper, as it’s cleaner and better for the environment. I plan to use this to help me keep track of my responsibilities as Rosh Parparim this summer.” – Simmie
