Shalom, Parents!
The first week of second month has been amazing! We started off the week strong by joining new chuggim (electives) and swimming! Two days after campers arrived the entire camp loaded up onto busses and spent the day at water country! We enjoyed almost five uninterrupted hours running around the water park with everybody! We went on rides like Dr. Van Darks Tunnel of Terror, the lazy river and the whirl pool! We ended the day by getting Kolbo (candy) and packed up the bus to come home to enjoy our first camp cookout! Later in the week we enjoyed our first Shabbos together! We began with a ruach (spirit) filled ReliSh were we welcomed in Shabbos. We enjoyed swimming, spending time with our friends and sicha (class)! After Shabbos was over, we spent the first part of Sunday celebrating Yavneh’s 75th birthday! It was a very exciting day filled with alumni, family members and looking back on Yavneh through the years! We got to talk about all the reasons why we love camp and why it is such a special place, while looking at great pictures of Hanhallah (upper staff) when they were campers! The second half of the afternoon was spent celebrating Davida and all that she has done for Yavneh as Rosh Banot (Head of the Girl’s Side)! We all gathered together in Gilbo to hear Rabbi Dov talk about all the amazing things that Davida has done before presenting a meditation garden in her honor! On Monday night we played a crazy game of four way capture the flag where the counselors could call out crazy rules! Tonight we are leaving for our second Achla Yom ( trip day) where we will be going to Pawtuckaway State Park where we will be camping out on our overnight! We are very excited to cook outside and sleep under the stars!
Ba’ahava,
