Dear passionate readers,
The last few days in Aydat Arayot have been chalk-full with excitement and we can’t wait to tell you all about them!
On Thursday we headed off to Boston for Arayot’s annual performance of Ketzev. Our first stop was at Cheshire Nursing home where we performed our songs and dances for a room full of residents. After spending some time schmoozing with the residents we got back on the bus and headed to Launch, everyone’s favorite trampoline park. Upon arriving we had a short Zimriyah practice in the parking lot while eating lunch and then enjoyed an afternoon on the trampolines. We finished the day with another performance, this time at Hebrew College, where we were lucky enough to have many family members and friends join us.
Friday was back to the normal schedule in the morning and then we started to prepare for Shabbat. Following ReleSh (Ruach Lifney Shabbat) we headed to Gilboa where we were beautifully led by Aliza in a rendition of Kabbalat Shabbat. After a delicious dinner we gathered with the rest of camp for some Shabbat zemirot.
Shabbat day was filled with the usual excitement of tefillot and Zman Kef (free time) as we were finally able to enjoy a beautiful Shabbat afternoon. After Havdallah the boys performed their Ketzev dance for the entire camp and got a rousing round of applause.
Sunday celebrated many camper’s favorite day of the summer, Yom Yisrael. We enjoyed a day planned by the mishlachat (Israeli counselors) which featured a shuk, hay rides, a scavenger hunt and many other amazing activities. The day concluded with a tekes (ceremony) in which every aydah in camp performed a song, dance or video compilation for the entire camp. We are now just days away from Zimriyah and are in full swing with our practices.
B’ahavah,
Will and Aliza
