Donate Your Locks to Zichron Menachem

We’re finally there!

You’re ready to cut your hair!

What you need to do…

Q: How can I prepare for cutting my hair?

  • Hair must be a minimum of 12” long.
  • Curly hair can be blow-dried straight to measure the minimum length.
  • Your hair may be colored, but bleached hair cannot be accepted.
  • No dreadlocks, weaves or wigs.

Q: When should I do it?

A: Anytime until JULY 9! Go! Make an appointment with a hairdresser (if they are open) or have your family cut it for you! PLEASE TAKE PHOTOS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE AND SEND TO MICHI BY THURSDAY JULY 9 so we can put your experience into a chesed video that will be shown to our Yavneh community! We know how excited you are – so are we!!

Q: For the day of the cut, what must I do?

A: Your hair must be clean and dry, with no styling products. Before cutting your hair, put your hair into a braid (or 2 or 3!) with a hair-tie at the top and a hair tie at the bottom, so when it’s cut, it won’t unravel.

Q: What should I do with it once I have a braid ready to send?

A: Once snipped, take a pic of you and your gorgeous braid and make sure you’ve sent it to Michi! Then place it in a plastic bag. Email Lisa land she will give you the address of where to send your hair donation. She will send Zichron Menachem all the Yavneh braids in a single package.

Q: Where are we sending the hair? What is Zichron Menachem?

A: Zichron Menachem provides support for any young person in Israel under the age of 25 living with cancer, as well as their parents and siblings. Families of all religions and backgrounds turn to Zichron Menachem for the help they need most: information, a second opinion, a wig, counseling for all the members of the family, afterschool care and activities for siblings, or an outing or social event to take a break from the routine of medical appointments.

Q: What is the purpose of hair donation?

A: One of the first questions that kids with cancer ask is, “Will I lose my hair?” Zichron Menachem collects hair from donors around the world to make much-needed wigs for children who have lost their hair during treatment. Your generosity helps make these children feel like themselves again. Zichron Menachem has made thousands of wigs for children and young adults who are custom-fitted for their specific needs.
