TrekYavneh

Trek Yavneh will be taking off the 2005 season. Please look for the program to return for the summer of 2006.

Please join us for a week of outdoor hiking, canoeing and exploration in the White Mountains of New Hampshire as Camp Yavneh leads the way in Jewish overnight camping and experiential education. Our goal is to teach the Jewish value of caring for our environment and appreciation of our world. Campers will be grouped by age for a backpacking or base camp experience. We will explore the Wild River Valley, climb the presidential peaks and canoe the Rangeley Lakes area, averaging 4–7 miles per day learning low-impact camping techniques. The trips will focus on map-reading skills, compass usage, food preparation and canoeing. As we canoe the Rangeley Lakes and sleep on its banks, we will look for moose, otter and bald eagles and explore and compare components of biblical teachings—including the idea of stewardship over G-d’s creation being a pillar of our modern understanding of responsibility for the treatment of our environment. The teaching of “Baal Taschit” heeds us not to destroy or not to waste even during wartime! This is a great opportunity to take the best of the Yavneh “Ruach” and values on the road to exploration!
