Na’aleh – Shabbat on a Kibbutz

Author - Camp Yavneh

This weekend Na’aleh spent Shabbat on the wonderful Kibbutz Keturah. After a Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat service where the רוח (spirit) of the group overpowered not only the locals, but the other summer groups that were also on the kibbutz for Shabbat, the group joined together for an amazing Shabbat dinner and tisch.

Waking up on Shabbat morning; the group again joined the kibbutz community for shacharit and musaf services, followed by a kiddish and an activity where the group had to make decisions as if they were a kibbutz community faced with difficult situations. In this activity, the group did a great job thinking and debating about their goals and finding ways to compromise.

In the afternoon, the group got back together for some group reflection followed by a tour of the kibbutz and the way it is environmentally efficiently and economically handled. Shabbat ended with a group Havdallah and then a pool party.

We are now on to the Negev!

Shavua tov!
